About the Artist - Kelly West
Kelly West is an intuitive abstract artist based in Massachusetts. She is a graduate of the Art History program at the University of Hartford. Her work is abstract with a splash of color and dynamic energy that reminds us it’s fun to be different.
Kelly’s art is inspired by color and movement - true in both her blind contour artwork and abstract paintings. Kelly’s non-traditional art is an opportunity to become free of the daily encumbrances that we carry in life, for the artist and viewer, alike.
When she isn’t drawing or painting, Kelly is a terrible chef (except for her exceptional bacon) and likes to spend time training her cattle dog.
I want to show you what I see in my mind's eye. Blind contour allows me to display what I'm seeing in a unique abstract way, while still presenting the essence of each subject I draw.
I have always enjoyed studying different types of artwork while learning about the artists who created them.
For my blind contours, I mainly draw with ultra fine point permanent marker and add watercolor or acrylic, on paper or canvas. My abstract paintings are made on paper or canvas, with acrylic paint.
