Going to the dogs
I don’t really have much to say but wanted to share a recent commission that I made. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and the person who enlisted me for the project said that the owner LOVES it.
So first… this was a gift for the patron’s dogsitter (or dog walker? I forget). She gave me a couple photos to work from, and this one is the photo I ran with.
Look at those faces!
I know the dogs have white fur in real life (or I assume they do anyway), but they were feeling like they should be yellows and golds, to me. So, I did one version in those tones.
When I draw, sometimes I go on sprees and draw more than one version. That was the case for these doggos too, but this time I wanted to work with blues as the main color. So… here is that version.
Again, I’m happy with them! Offered them to the original patron for a small additional cost (because the owner should own BOTH, instead of me keeping one in my studio). She wanted both, so I sent both out, yay! I hear that they will be framed together, which I think will look great.
I love hearing back from people after they receive my art. Here is a snapshot from the conversation:
Thank you - they look amazing. I couldn’t wait, I saw my friend today… and she fell in LOVE… she was as amazed with your work as I was.
I abbreviated the full message, but you get the point. That made my day! I love hearing from people after the fact. Which reminds me, note to self: I need to make some sort of feedback form on my website so that I can share messages like this one all in one place.
So yeah, that was my exciting secret pet portrait commission that I had worked on recently. More please!
